Course Summary
This is a one-day course is designed to assist users of the Aurical system in becoming more familiar with the system’s operation and getting the best use out of the advanced features. For current users, this course will allow you to stay up-to-date as new technology and software are introduced to the system. Key training areas include protocol development, performing advanced assessments and verification, and protocol set up.
Hearing care professionals are faced with choices and decisions about the protocols they use for assessments, fittings, and follow-up. Specifically, they must decide what test and tools to include, how (and when) to introduce them, and what findings to look for. For maximum impact, these selections must strike a balance between the potential patient outcomes and the time and ease of implementing them.
This workshop provides information on tools and techniques to facilitate these decisions. Focusing on advanced assessments, probe microphone measurements (PMM), and hearing instrument test (HIT) box options, a range of procedures that can be used at various points of the fitting process will be discussed and demonstrated practically. Highlights include: step-by-step instructions for common probe microphone measures, measures of audibility, verification of prescriptive fittings, MPO, and assessment of special features.

- Perform specialised assessment test; TEN, Stenger and Weber.
- Utilising Speech in Noise tests.
- Describe the rationale regarding the use of a validated prescriptive method
- Describe the latest BSA recommended guidance
- Describe considerations that need to be made when selecting the test signal in input levels
- List the test protocols for making the common probe-microphone measures
- Describe how probe-microphone measures are used to fit to a real-ear aided response prescriptive target
- List the protocol for the real ear assessment of DNR, and frequency lowering
- Describe how SII measures can be used to assess audibility.
- Have enhanced understanding of the correlation between fitting protocol components and patient outcomes
- Understand how (and when) to incorporate (coupler-based) techniques
